Thursday, June 1

Smooch-a-Pooch and Unleash the Possibilities at the Capitol: Companion Animal Alliance will be out on the Capitol steps at lunch time. Stop by for a midday pick-me-up and pledge your support for CAA’s Capital Campaign at CAABR.org. 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

Kendra Gives Back Party: Kendra Scott in Perkins Rowe (10156 Perkins Rowe) is hosting a special event to benefit the Alzheimer’s Association. Enjoy sips and sweets as you shop for beautiful Kendra Scott jewelry; 20% of the proceeds will benefit the Louisiana Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association. 5-7 p.m.

Stories in Art: On the first Friday of every month, The LSU Museum of Art (100 Lafayette St, Fifth Floor) hosts a free program for kids ages 0-6 and their parents/caregivers. Enjoy “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs” and the chance to make your own food-filled rain cloud. 10:30-11 a.m.

Game, Set, Dine! Adult Tennis Mixer: Head to BREC’s City-Brooks Community Park (1515 Dalrymple Drive) for a chance to win a gift certificates to The Overpass Merchant. The mixer consists of timed double match play, where partners will switch after each round. Tickets available here. Ages 18 and older. $15 per person. 6-8 p.m.

Make it a Movie Night: The Jungle Book: BREC’s Independence Park Theatre (7800 Independence Blvd.) is showing Disney’s The Jungle Book (2016 version) as part of its monthly free film series. The film screening is free for guests of all ages. Concessions will be available for purchase. No outside food or drinks allowed. 7-9:30 p.m.

Movies at Main: Zootopia: Nearby, East Baton Rouge Parish Library (7711 Goodwood Blvd.) is showing Zootopia in the plaza of the Main Library for free. Bring picnic blankets and lawn chairs to get comfy. 7-9 p.m.

Saturday, June 3

RocketKidz Rookie Triathlon: BREC’s Liberty Lagoon (111 Lobdell Ave.) will host the Rookie Triathlon for children ages 3-10. The event is designed to introduce children to the sport of triathlon and promote outdoor play. For more information, go to rocketkidz.org. 7-10 a.m.

Downtown Baton Rouge Arts Market: This open-air market is held on the first Saturday of each month, excluding January and April, in conjunction with BREADA’s weekly Red Stick Farmer’s Market (Fifth and Main streets). CRBA’s 2017 Parade of Homes in Baton Rouge: For the weekends of June 3-4 and June 10-11, Capital Region Builders Association hosts its annual Parade of Homes. Tour and preview more than 35 Baton Rouge homes, where you’ll get to see innovative tech and inspiring designs. Check out the full list of houses included on the route. Dino Day at LASM: The Louisiana Art & Science Museum (100 River Road South) hosts its second annual Dino Day with a variety of interactive activities, hands-on stations, knowledgeable guest presenters and a special planetarium show schedule. 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Peace Fest: The Red Stick Peacemakers originally moved this event from October after the flooding to better serve those affected. This Saturday, join them for a day of yoga, healing energy therapy, live art, live music and more. With activities for all ages, this free event is open to everyone. Happening all week

Take a bus tour with Red Stick Adventures:  Play tourist once in a while, and go on a tour with Red Stick Adventures. City Tours visit sites like the State Capitol, the Louisiana State Museum, historic Baton Rouge neighborhoods and many more, and they run Tuesdays through Saturdays, and Mondays and Sundays by request. Offered daily, Swamp Tours consist of boat rides through Manchac Swamp. Plantation Tours explore the vast estates of River Road or St. Francisville and are also offered daily by reservation. Tours of the LSU Rural Life Museum are offered daily by reservation, as well. On Friday and Saturday nights only, the haunted plantation tours take you to the Myrtles Plantation in St. Francisville.
